Joshua Kellemen

Joshua Kellemen has spent a decade and a half defending those accused of criminal charges and civil violations of all types from DUIs to Forensic Mental Health Homicides. Before joining Garguile DUI & Traffic Lawyers as [insert exact title] Josh (Joshua only when in front of a judge or jury) spent 15 years with the Associated Counsel for the Accused Division of the King County Department of Public Defense, starting in his second year of law school at Seattle University. During that time he worked in the Seattle Municipal Court unitas both a trial lawyer and calendar attorney, completed multiple stints in the in Felonies; served in the King County District Court unit, handled the DOSA (Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative) calendar solo during the early days of COVID, and served a year in the ITA unit.

During that time he has improved the lives of tens of thousands of clients and is recognized State wide as an expert in DUI science, 4th amendment and Washington Article 1 Sec. 7 suppression law, bail release arguments, 2nd Amendment law, the history of the felony murder rule, and litigating competency issues for non-schizophrenic encapsulated delusions in homicide cases.

Josh considers one of his highest compliments to have been after a year of supervising calendar work in Seattle Municipal Courts that upon meeting a supervising Assistant Seattle City Attorney he remarked “ah, so you’re the one who has been such a pain in our ass! “In a good way.”

Having completed over 50 jury trials to verdict, most of them felonies, and having litigated hundreds of substantive motions, a year’s worth of almost daily ITA commitment hearings, handled thousands of arraignments and review hearings, and completed over a two dozen appeals, Josh is equipped to handle any case that comes through the door at Garguie DUI & Traffic Lawyers.
